Transforming Masculinities: Being (hu)man in a world of violence
This series of consultative workshops aims to brings together a partnership of global organizations and church world communions that engage men in gender justice. We build on previous work and experience in the area of gender-based violence perpetrated by men, psychological and physical violence done to men, and the root cause of intellectual and spiritual violence done to a faithful notion of being human and therefore the concept of masculinity. 

In three meetings, we will explore
1) masculinity and power within the church (26 November)
2) engaging feminism and self-reflection for liberation (9 December)
3) positive masculinities and allyship for transformation (17 February, 2021 15:30 CET)

During these conversations, we will engage:
- Sexual and gender based violence perpetrated by men 
- Boys and men as victims of violence, and the cyclical trauma of violence 
- Critical reflection on andro-centric, patriarchal concepts of masculinity (power-over and domination) in church and culture
- Liberative practices using a range of Biblical, theological or cultural concepts of what it means to be human, and therefore male
- practices that promote mutuality, care and interdependence
This series is hosted by the Lutheran World Federation, Sonke Gender Justice, the World Communion of Reformed Churches and ACT Alliance
